Sleep No More

Happy Halloween! For the past few days, I have had the pleasure to photograph before and after one of my favorite shows, Punchdrunks’s New York based Sleep No More, an interactive play that takes place on 6 levels of the McKitterick Hotel. Its MacBeth meets Hitchcock’s Rebecca, silent theatre meets interpretive dance meets unbelievable set design… While I can’t post images from inside the show (you need to see it in person!), here are some favorites from the past few nights of a special pre-show outside, images from the bar “Manderley”, and the amazing and sexy after-parties held special for the weekend of Halloween.

This is probably one of the hardest places I have had to photograph. Inside much of the space you cannot use flash. Things move quickly and for those of you who know camera-talk, you are shooting at 6400 ISO wide open at 1.2 much of the time. The lighting is crazy and there is fog everywhere! Not ideal conditions, but when you hit it just right, you can capture the amazing look and feel of the show. Enjoy!

Hesta Prynn

A recent New Now Next shoot at Logo brought the beautiful and talented Hesta Prynn, originally from the band Northern State, who released her first solo EP Can We Go Wrong last year. The video for the song Can We Go Wrong is some pretty fun stop motion work in NY’s Central Park. This year, she’s released a video for her single Turn it Gold and for Seven Sisters which features Shawn “Clown” Crahan #6 from Slipknot. Most recently she performed and DJed at Bonnaroo. Check out more of her music on her official site!

Candy Slice

I had the pleasure of once again photographing all-female, always-funny comedy troupe Candy Slice. You can follow the group’s performance schedule on their facebook page. More on the group and more photos can be found here.

Julianne Moore

My photographs from a Save the Children event with Julianne Moore were published in next month’s InStyle magazine! Julianne, who is an art ambassador for Save the Children, is a beautiful person inside and out and I was honored to be present to witness this heart-warming event. Read more about it in February’s issue of InStyle magazine!

Keri Hilson

Who doesn’t love the fabulous Keri Hilson? I had the chance to photograph her for Logo while she was promoting her new album “No Boys Allowed” and vintage-looking video, “Pretty Girl Rock”.

Janelle Monaé

I’m excited to share some more images from the shoot with Janelle Monaé. I added a vintage feel to the photographs that I feel work well with her style. To check out her music, go here.

Janelle Monáe

I can’t wait until I can post a whole lot of Janelle Monáe!! I’m obsessed with her music and her look. I was grateful I could be at her release party to take some fun live shots as well.

Margaret Cho

Today I shot the super funny and adorable comedian Margaret Cho at Logo at MTV. Logo is sponsoring Margaret’s tour promoting her album “Cho Dependent”. We had the pleasure of seeing her show in Provincetown this summer and loved every second of it.

I am not gonna die because I failed as someone else. I am gonna succeed as myself. – Margaret Cho

Kylie Minogue

A few shots of the amazing legend that is Kylie Minogue taken during an interview with Logo. (Don’t judge me based on these pre-lit for video snapshots!) I was so excited to be there though that I had to share these. Doesn’t she look amazing? Check her out being adorable and hosting PopLab on Logo!

Maybe someday I’ll do an actual photo shoot with her! Lets make that happen!

Jeffery and Cole

I was given an assignment recently to shoot the stars of the hilarious web series Jeffery and Cole Casserole for MTV Network’s channel, Logo. Working with a smaller budget for this web series, I made use of a large softbox attached to one stobe and used hot lights to even out the background and backlight the subjects. We had a prop table, provided by Logo, which helped animate these two already hilarious characters and added a new dynamic to the shoot.
